EMAT holds a database of local people available for casual sessional Interpreting in schools. Those people on our database have been list 99 checked, and have received guidance on what schools may expect them to do. Some Interpreters have full CRB clearance. EMAT also use agency interpreters, where the language required is not represented on the database.
EMAT can fund a number of hours for New International Arrivals on admission to school for schools who do not receive grants for these purposes.
Schools contact EMAT to request support for the Induction and sign a Service Level Agreement ( There is no cost to the school for this.)
Admission meetings and Parents Evenings are funded by the schools. EMAT can help to put schools in touch with Interpreters or agencies for these meetings.
