Dual Language Stickers Order Form

CD containing a selection of resources produced over 5 years to celebrate Black History Month. Suitable for Early Years and KS 1, 2, 3, & 4. It is aimed at teachers, classroom assistants, nursery practitioners and youth/ community leaders. These resources provide starting points to help children and young people explore the experiences and challenges that our predecessors surmounted and the way modern heroes have taken up the baton to achieve even greater things.

A very good Black History teaching resource. This resource has been designed for use with year 5 and 6 pupils but some activities could be adapted for use with younger pupils. This book explores the lives of famous black and Asian people. The activities are rooted in Drama and Literacy.
Khalid’s Story
This book gives pupils an opportunity to explore the issues that face refugee families and children in particular. The story is about a Middle Eastern boy whose happy life is shattered by political unrest that breaks out in his country. Khalid’s own world is turned upside down when his father is taken away suddenly by soldiers. Read how the family cope with the aftermath and the eventual journey to a safer place.
There is also a comprehensive teaching pack for upper KS1/2 pupils, with a clear description of activities and the resources needed to deliver them. These activities are rooted in Drama, Art & Literacy. This is available from One education Manchester see www.oneeducation.co.uk for details.
River Street School
A CD-Rom is designed for use by early stage EAL learners in Key Stage 2 & 3 to introduce pupils to some of the language, concepts and skills required by the Geography curriculum. It contains teacher resources, including printable worksheets and board game.

The Ofsted site is very useful. Not only does it contain the Inspection Framework, but also guidance criteria for the judgements. There is a zip file of Supplementary Guidance and Resources (including Community Cohesion, English as an Additional Language, and Equalities guidance).
Curriculum and Language Access Service Resources
Curriculum and Language Service has produced resources such as dual language books, posters and dual language signs, upon request, for local schools for a number of years. In the past, these were part of the resources catalogue and had to be paid for. It is now possible to download these free of charge.
